OUR HISTORY

Sweet Relief Musicians Fund was founded in 1994 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity by singer-songwriter Victoria Williams. While on a career-defining tour with Neil Young, Victoria began experiencing severe, unexplained symptoms, eventually leading to a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.

Faced with mounting medical expenses, her friends came together to produce an album of her songs, Sweet Relief, which helped alleviate her debt. Recognizing that many musicians faced similar challenges, Victoria used proceeds from the album to establish Sweet Relief Musicians Fund—a resource for music industry professionals in need of emergency financial assistance.

For over two decades, Sweet Relief has been a trusted ally to those in the music community, ensuring that the individuals who bring us music are supported during their most vulnerable times.

Join us in our mission to sustain the heartbeat of the music industry—because those who create the soundtrack of our lives deserve a safety net when life gets tough.
